Names hide revisions
The Steam Deck OLED has parts distinct from the LCD model. Switch OLED is model HEG-001, with different screen construction from the original Switch. A MacBook Air with M2 may be the 13-inch 2022 or 15-inch 2023 laptop. A part chosen only from a familiar marketing name can therefore be wrong even when the devices look alike.
Find the full identifier
Look in system settings or on the product label, then match that identifier with the maker’s support page. Lenovo’s T14 Gen 5 battery service status even changes with installed battery capacity. For appliances, the suffix and serial information can separate similar filters, accessories or electrical parts. Keep the serial privately when a model number is enough for a public question.
Match the part and instructions
Check that both the part listing and repair guide name the same model or revision. Look for included adhesive, brackets and cables, along with any tools the procedure requires. A broad compatibility claim without a part number or variant list deserves a check before ordering, especially for batteries and mains-powered products. Confirm live stock and return terms, since an older guide may point to a part no longer sold.
