Ear tips versus internal batteries
Worn ear tips can be replaced to restore fit and hygiene. The bud batteries and electronics are packed inside sealed shells, and iFixit does not provide an ordinary internal-battery replacement guide. Apple can assess an affected bud or case for service. A clean exterior therefore tells little about the remaining battery life.
One bud or the case?
Test each bud independently and confirm that both charge in the same case. Poor noise cancellation may come from worn tips or blocked mesh rather than electronics. Lightning-case and USB-C-case versions should be identified when requesting service. Apple sets the final fee after inspection, and coverage can change the price.
Used-set condition
Check pairing, microphones, noise-control modes and the case port. Make sure both buds belong to the case and the set has been removed from the seller’s account. If one bud was replaced, confirm that the set pairs and updates normally; the other bud and case may have older batteries.
